I’ve taught music professionally for the previous 15 years at both the university and grade faculty levels. Nies obtained a DMA in Orchestral Conducting from the College-Conservatory of Music (University of Cincinnati), a Professional Studies Diploma (Graduate level) in Orchestral Conducting from the Mannes College of Music, an MM (Double Bass) from the Yale School of Music, and a BM from the University of Miami. His research on Liszt’s Piano Sonata in B Minor as well as the piano music of American composer, William Schuman, have been offered at conferences for the College Music Society.
Carol Nies, music director of the MTSU Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra, the Curb Youth Symphony, the Nashville Summer Orchestral Institute and the director of the Nashville Youth Orchestra program has served as a canopy conductor and conducting assistant for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.
